If you are like me, this is your playoffs. This is your Taylor Swift Ticketmaster moment. We are hyped. We are furious. We are reviewing TikTok for strategies to participate and be as involved as we can be. Which isn’t as involved as we want to be.
But probably, you are not. Probably, you are watching whatever sports season it is (GO BRUINS) and fanatically scrolling social media to see what outfit TS is wearing, and if she is dropping Rep TV yet.
I had a moment of shook when I realized that we are half-way through May. That means we are 2 months from the first election of the 2024 Election Season. There is so much to do before then!
And I hope to help. Moving forward, I am going to break down each election and its crucial information: which elections have closed primaries, who is running, what they stand for – and what they don’t.
We don’t have much time, and there is actually a lot at stake with two local elections…so expect some rapid fire updates this week and next. To get us started, here is a quick reminder from the AMAZING Ron Turner, SOE:
Start by registering to vote if you haven’t already done so. It’s easy to register online, in person or by mail. Remember, you must be registered to vote at least 29 days prior to an election to be able to vote in that election. More details are available by visiting our Register to Vote page.
If you plan to vote by mail (absentee), be sure your vote-by-mail request is good through 2024. If you’re unsure if your vote-by-mail request is still valid, use the My Voter Status tool to check your status, and if necessary, submit a request.
And here is what that means:
- Voter registration deadline: Mon, July 22
- Deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed: Thurs, Aug. 8 by 5 p.m.
- Early Voting: Sat., Aug. 10 – Sun., Aug. 18
- Election day: Tues., Aug. 20: Polls open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; vote-by-mail ballots must be received in the elections office by 7 p.m.
